Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012-2018 Ford Focus vehicles with a 2.0L GDI or 2.0L GTDI engine. The Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in fuel vapor management system.
Consequence

5 common questions answered
NHTSA identifies two potential safety concerns for certain 2018 Ford Focus vehicles. A Canister Purge Valve problem in the fuel vapor system may create excessive vacuum, leading to an unexpected engine stall and an inability to restart, which can raise crash risk. A separate clutch concern may allow a fracture, transmission damage, and a fluid leak; contact with hot engine or exhaust components can increase fire risk. Waiting to confirm recall status leaves uncertainty in place. If your Focus matches an affected configuration, keep the fuel tank at least halfway full for the fuel-system concern and contact Coggin Deland Ford promptly for a VIN check.
