You've probably seen a room-escape game cropping up somewhere in your area -- several have opened in Florida in the past few years. The premise is simple: players are locked inside a room, and must find clues that will lead them to the key.
These games can be as straightforward, or complicated as the creators dream up (or have a budget for). Last month, Escape the Room NYC partnered up with Ford Motor Company to create one of the largest and most unique games ever attempted.
Called simply "Escape NYC," it integrated a new Ford Escape. To escape from the 35,000-square-foot venue, players had to drive the SUV through various scenes, and solve puzzles using its technology features, including active park assist, foot-activated liftgate, rearview camera, and SYNC 3's voice-to-text capability.
"Younger, urban consumers today want to live through experiences and engage with brands that represent their lifestyle," said Ginger Kasanic, Ford experiential marketing manager. "They are voracious consumers of life – they're not spectators, they're participants."
